Lake District Holiday Homes
The Lake District has a way of staying with you. From the still waters of Windermere to the high drama of the western fells, this corner of Cumbria folds more beauty into its valleys than almost anywhere in England, and the finest way to enjoy it is with a place of your own to come home to at the end of the day.
Lake District Holiday Homes brings together self-catering cottages, lodges and homes from right across the Lake District and the wider Cumbrian countryside, all in one place. Whether you are dreaming of a lakeside bolthole, a walker's base among the fells, or a cosy retreat for the family and the dog, we make it easy to find somewhere that turns a good holiday into a place you will want to return to.
Ambleside
Sitting at the head of Windermere where the lake meets the mountains, Ambleside is one of the best-loved towns in the Lake District and a walker’s idea of heaven. This bustling, stone-built town packs outdoor shops, cosy cafés and welcoming pubs into a compact centre, with the fells rising on every side and the lake just a mile away at Waterhead. For anyone who wants to be in the thick of it, with walks from the door and the whole of the central Lakes within easy reach, few bases beat it.

Keswick
If the northern Lakes have a capital, it is Keswick. Tucked between the shores of Derwentwater and the bulk of Skiddaw, this lively market town is one of the few sizeable towns genuinely within the national park, and it makes a wonderful base for walkers, families and anyone who likes a lake and a mountain on the same doorstep. The pedestrianised centre hums with outdoor shops, cafés and pubs, while the water and the fells are never more than a stroll away.

Windermere
Mention the Lake District and most people picture Windermere. England’s largest lake stretches eleven glittering miles through the heart of the national park, and the twin towns of Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere beside it make one of the liveliest and most welcoming bases you could choose. It is a perfect place for a first visit and a firm favourite with returning regulars, with everything close at hand and the water always near.
