Lake District Holiday Homes is free to use, and I would like to keep it that way. To make that possible, this Website takes part in affiliate programmes with a number of holiday-property booking platforms. This page explains, in plain terms, what that means.
1. How affiliate links work
When you follow a link from this Website to one of my booking partners and then make a booking, I may receive a commission from that partner. The commission comes out of the partner’s own revenue, not your pocket. You pay exactly the same price whether you reach the partner through this Website or by going to it directly.
2. My booking partners
I currently take part in affiliate programmes with Cottages.com, Holidaycottages.co.uk, Rural Retreats and Sykes Cottages. Each of these is an established holiday-letting company with its own booking process, terms and customer service.
3. How this affects my listings
It does not. Every property on this Website is listed because it is a genuine Lake District holiday home that I am happy to put in front of you, not because of any commercial arrangement. I do not accept payment from property owners or booking partners to feature, promote or rank a listing. Commission is earned only when a booking is made, so there is no incentive for me to mislead you about a property, because doing so would cost me your trust without any matching gain. The reputation of this Website rests on pointing you towards places that are genuinely worth your time.
4. Transparency
This disclosure is made in line with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) guidance on affiliate marketing and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) guidance on endorsements and reviews. I believe you have every right to know when a website earns money from the links it shows you, and I am committed to being straightforward about it.
5. Questions
If you have any questions about my affiliate relationships, please email me at [email protected].
