Situated in the valley of Longsleddale in the south of the Lake District National Park this property has access to plenty of walks in untouched countryside. You can follow the River Sprint which flows through the farm along the valley floor or head up the valley to climb the Haweswater fells including High Street and Harter Fell. You are within 20 miles of some popular towns including Kendal a lovely market town famous for its mint cake. Bowness-on-Windermere on the shores of Lake Windermere is also worth a visit as are Sawrey and Hawkshead with their Beatrix Potter connections. For adventure activities Grizedale Forest is nearby offering horseback riding bicycle-hire Segway-hire and Go Ape. As you approach this property via the 0.9-mile private farm track you will appreciate its secluded position amongst the spectacular landscape of the Lake District. Surrounded by trees fields fells and wildlife it's the ideal place to unwind. Stepping up and through the front door you'll find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Light and airy this multi-aspect room has lots of opportunities to appreciate the beautiful views whilst natural materials such as wood and stone add character. The lounge has comfy sofas and an electric wood burner-effect fire; the dining area has seating for up to four adults and the compact kitchen is simple but well-equipped. There are three comfortable bedrooms: a double and two singles. All the rooms are bright with delightful countryside views. Completing the accommodation is the family shower room with sink shower and wc. Outside there is an enclosed patio area with seating the ideal spot for al fresco dining against a magnificent backdrop. Beyond that there is farmland to explore including lots of walking trails and a river. Fishing is available by prior arrangement with the owner lookout for leaping salmon and trout in the autumn months. Need to know: 3 bedrooms 1 double, 1 single, 1 single with extra child's z bed (please request at time of booking). 1 shower room with shower, hand basin and WC. Electric oven and hob, under counter fridge and separate under counter freezer, washing machine and microwave. Electric woodburner effect fire. TV and DVD player, CD radio. Wi Fi included. Towels not provided. Private water supply (water is UV filtered). Enclosed patio with outdoor seating. Parking for two cars, within the enclosed gated area next to the cottage. Car access is via 0.9 mile untarmacked farm track that is unsuitable for low slung cars. Please note that there is a step to the side door that opens into the open plan living area. Fishing in the river on the grounds available by prior arrangement. A river flows through the grounds of the property children to be supervised at all times. Shop, pub and restaurant 5 miles. Short breaks available from a Friday or a Monday during November March.
