Discover boat cruises and water sports on the area's namesake lakes with Ullswater (10 miles) Thirlmere (6 miles) and Derwentwater (4.5 miles) never far from home. Set off from your doorstep to summit the fells of Blencathra (3 miles) or Skiddaw (8.5 miles) or perhaps pay a visit to the majestic landscapes of the Whinlatter Forest Park (8.5 miles). Further afield you'll discover the towns of Penrith (13.5 miles) and Carlisle (24 miles) both truly worth a day out in the car.
