The town of Windermere is just 1.5 miles up the road and is well worth a visit too perhaps walk along the banks of the lake to get there. Further afield you'll find plenty of fells to summit including The Old Man of Coniston (13.5 miles) and the towering Scafell Pike (12.5 miles) don t forget to pack your trusty walking boots.
