Overview
Matterdale is a beautiful peaceful retreat within 5 miles of Ullswater. Avid hillwalkers can tackle the hike up Helvellyn one of the highest mountains in the Lake District or a wander through some pretty woodland will lead to the waterfalls at Aira Force 3 miles away. Keen historians will love exploring the stately home of Dalemain 7 miles away whilst Hutton-in-the-Forest 10 miles away has beautiful gardens. At the end of the busy day a mile's walk down the lane will take you to the local pub while shops at the villages of Troutbeck and Glenridding both within 5 miles stock basics. The nearest large town is Penrith 10 miles away which has supermarkets as well as independent shops pubs cafes and restaurants. Contemporary elegant and with stunning views thought has been given to every detail to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable at this stone-built cottage. Enter through the front door and head to the spacious living room. Three windows look out over the garden and onto the fells the perfect view to take in whilst enjoying the comfortable sofas and chairs. Bright during the day the room takes on a cosy atmosphere as the evening draws in and the wood burner is lit. The stylish kitchen with slate floors and underfloor heating is equipped with an oven and grill microwave built-in fridge/freezer four-ring induction hob washer/dryer DAB Bluetooth radio and quartz kitchen tops. The wooden table is the ideal spot for a hearty breakfast and to share a delicious dinner in the evenings. Upstairs the three bedrooms are tastefully decorated with beautiful views across the valley. All are en-suite with underfloor heating heated towel rail and an LED mirror and are finished in beautiful limestone. A king-size bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the second king-size bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a large bath and shower attachment where you can enjoy mountain views as you soak. The third bedroom is a twin zip-and-link (which can be made up as a super-king on request) and has an en-suite shower room. Outside the enclosed lawned garden has a patio with a picnic table. With spectacular views down the valley towards Ullswater Gowbarrow and across to High Street take your morning coffee to the garden and watch the world awaken; in the evening dine alfresco as the sun sets. There is private off-road parking for two cars. Need to know: 3 bedrooms 2 king size and 1 twin (can be made up as a super king size on request please advise at the time of booking). 3 bathrooms 2 en suite shower rooms with WC, 1 en suite bathroom with double ended bath, shower attachment and WC. Oven and grill, microwave, built in fridge/freezer, four ring induction hob, washer/dryer. Wood burner ( first basket of logs included, please bring own firelighters and matches). Smartt TV, DVD and CD player. Sonos Blue tooth sound bar. Enclosed, lawned garden with patio with picnic table. Off road parking for two cars. Lockable bike storage for up to 6 bikes.
