Overview

Lake View Cottage is a holiday home in Brampton, Cumbria. Sleeping up to 4 guests, it holds a 4-star rating. Inside you'll find a hot tub. Dogs are welcome.

East of the Eden Valley, across on the far side from the Lakeland fells, rises the great upland of the North Pennines, a National Landscape and UNESCO Global Geopark of high moorland, broad dales and some of the darkest skies in England. Only its western fringe reaches into Cumbria, and it is a genuinely separate range from the Lake District, but for those who love wild, lonely country it is one of the north's finest secrets. The scenery is on a grand scale. Cross Fell, at 893 metres, is the highest point of the whole Pennine chain; High Cup Nick is a breathtaking glaciated chasm above Dufton; and the waterfalls of the high dales, including mighty High Force, thunder over the dark Whin Sill rock that underpins the Geopark. Above it all stretch skies so unpolluted by light that the area is a haven for stargazers. This is hill-farming and old lead-mining country, steeped in a hard, handsome heritage. The North Pennines suit walkers, cyclists, geologists and stargazers who want solitude over crowds, with the Pennine Way and the Sea to Sea cycle route crossing it, and the Eden Valley and the northern Lakes within reach to the west. Browse our holiday homes across the North Pennines and escape into England's wild high country.
