Just 3 miles from the heart of Cockermouth journey to the birthplace of William Wordsworth and pay the quirky shops a visit. Dotted with cafes and home to the National Trust's Wordsworth House and Garden spend your morning in the town before heading on to Buttermere (10 miles) Loweswater (6 miles) or Bassenthwaite Lake (5.5 miles). If you need a treat travel 6.5 miles from your door to a spa where you can enjoy a romantic day and enjoy some afternoon tea. There is no garden at the cottage but you can head out straight from home and enjoy a walk along the river or on one of the surrounding tracks and trails which wind their way around the countryside. Spend a day at the coast and travel 12 miles to the beach at Workington. Ascend steps to the covered porch to make your way inside this former mill building. Head upstairs to the first floor to find the living space with vaulted ceilings exposed oak beams and plenty of natural light. Take a seat in the welcoming lounge where the wood burner promises to keep you warm and sit in front of the TV or put a DVD on for a film night. Make use of the electric oven and hob microwave dishwasher fridge freezer and washer/dryer in the kitchen. Informal meals can be eaten at the breakfast bar. The stylish and cosy king-size bedroom is situated off the lounge. The bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle is on the ground floor as well as the separate WC. The private balcony is reached off the lounge and boasts views over the water to the pretty stone bridge and beyond. Spend time al fresco with treats and a tipple or simply enjoying your morning coffee. If you've brought bikes along to help you explore store them in the secure area provided. There is off-road parking for one car. Need to know: 1 king size bedroom. 1 bathroom with bath and separate shower, 1 WC (on separate level to bedroom).
