Overview
A network of tracks and trails lead from the local hamlet so you can explore to your heart's content and leave the car behind. For a strenuous yet rewarding hike follow the Kentmere Horseshoe a 13-mile loop which starts from the village hall and boasts fantastic views. It is one of the Lake District's longest and more remote walks so pack some goodies to help you refuel along the way. A mile from home enjoy a gentler stroll around Kentmere Resevoir where wildlife is abundant. For a tasty treat or to pick up ingredients make the 4-mile journey to the village of Staveley. Call this 17th-century farmhouse yours for a while and head inside to settle in. The porch is a handy space to leave coats and boots before making your way through the door to open-plan living-room area. With stunning views high vaulted ceilings and plenty of character find a spot in front of the wood burner and get cosy. A useful utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer for keeping clothes fresh and a ground-floor bathroom with WC offers somewhere to soak your muscles. Step through the lounge to the kitchen which is well-equipped with an AGA fridge/freezer a separate electric oven double Belfast sink a dishwasher and a microwave. Creating the perfect spot to help prepare ingredients. Set the dining table ready for dinner where you can enjoy communal meals and raise a toast to your chef and walk out onto the patio barbeque area and fire pit. Wind your way along a corridor descend two steps and find yourself in the snug an additional room in which to unwind. The snug can also be accessed via the living-room by opening the stable door and stepping down. Full of character this is an inviting room with a wood burner low ceilings with exposed beams and a Smart TV. After long days exploring you deserve a good night's sleep. Find the first of four bedrooms by ascending and descending steps from the snug. A large king-size bedroom awaits and boasts garden views through the patio doors with underfloor heating and a stylish ensuite so you can start your day with a sumptuous soak. Six narrow steps lead to a landing where there is a twin room with sloping floor and a cosy king size bedroom. There is a contemporary shower room with walk-in shower and WC where you can freshen up in style. Head back through the lounge/diner and up another flight of stairs to access the remaining bedroom. A second twin bedroom has a sloping vaulted ceiling and dual-aspect windows. Heading back downstairs there is a luxurious sauna suite with shower bath and seating in a spa-style room- the perfect way to relax after a long day. A partially enclosed garden wraps its way around the cottage and has plenty of places to sit. The patio is perfect for al fresco evenings with a BBQ seating and outdoor fire pit to keep the chill at bay. There are lots of places to discover in the garden which are perfect for littles ones looking to play. There is off-road parking for three cars. Need to know: 4 bedrooms: 1 super king size and with underfloor heating and ensuite, 1 king size, 2 twins (one twin can be made in to a double on request). 3 bathrooms: 1 bathroom, 1 bathroom in sauna suite, 1 shower room, an en suite in the super king size room.
