It is a landscape that shaped Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and Ruskin, and it has been inspiring visitors ever since.

You can climb England's highest ground or stroll a flat lakeshore, sail, swim, cycle or simply sit with a view, and there is as much to do on a wet day as a fine one.
